AI Contract Review: How do you know if you can trust the AI?

The Trust Factor in AI

As we navigate the complexities of legal AI technologies, trust becomes paramount. Screens.ai claims an impressive 97.5% accuracy rate, but we don’t expect our customers to take this figure at face value. As Otto Hanson, Screens Founder and CEO asserts, "You don’t have to take our word for it. We provide a set of tools for customers to track accuracy from their own perspective." This commitment to transparency sets the stage for a more collaborative relationship between the AI and its users. How does it work?

Our Validation Process

How the Screens validation process works is straightforward and user-friendly:

  1. Standard Creation: users define their contract standards within the platform.
  2. AI Analysis: The AI applies these standards to contracts.
  3. User Verification: Users can quickly review the AI's decisions alongside the relevant contract language.
  4. Feedback Mechanism: If the AI makes an incorrect assessment, users simply click a thumbs down icon to flag it.
  5. Accuracy Tracking: The system aggregates that feedback to calculate an overall accuracy rate.

For instance, if a customer establishes a standard that the governing law must be Delaware, they can apply this standard to various contracts using Screens. As they review each contract, the user can check whether the AI's assessment is correct and track how many times the AI gets it right. If, after reviewing 100 contracts, the user determines the AI accurately identifies the governing law in 96 cases, Screens will display that this particular standard has a performance accuracy of 96%. This process allows users to independently confirm the AI's effectiveness rather than relying solely on the company's claims, empowering them to actively engage in monitoring and improving the AI's performance over time.

Empowering Customers

What excites us most about this validation approach is how it empowers our customers. Legal professionals are no longer passive recipients of AI analysis; instead, they have tools that let them actively engage in tracking and verifying the AI’s performance. This not only builds confidence in the tool but also enhances their ability to refine standards and prompts over time. "We've seen customers get really smart about testing their playbooks and refining their prompts to engineer them to true excellence", notes Hanson.

Continuous Improvement

The feedback loop created through this validation process allows Screens to continuously improve both our understanding of the AI’s capabilities and the effectiveness of the tool itself. By actively participating in this process, you help ensure that your standards evolve alongside your needs. Otto’s vision for Screens.AI is clear: "The whole idea is to be really transparent about AI accuracy and to help you track where there are opportunities to improve your standards or your prompts on the tool."

A New Era of AI Transparency

By empowering customers with the power of accuracy tracking, Screens is not just offering a tool; we are fostering a partnership that enhances your operational efficiency and trust in AI technology. As we continue on this journey, we look forward to leveraging these insights to refine our processes and achieve even greater accuracy in your contract analysis efforts.
